Jewellery Care Guide
How to take care of your jewellery ?
Congratulations & thank you for investing in one of our handcrafted designs.
To ensure its durability, we’ve created this guide with tips for protecting your pieces.
1. For all types of designs
Physical activities
Take off jewellery during high-impact activities like weight training, gardening, or sports. While minor scratches are normal, hard surfaces and intense movement can cause deep scratches or bending.
Water
Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering, or washing hands. Water, especially chlorinated or salt water, can tarnish metals and dull finishes.
Chemicals
Avoid wearing jewellery while cleaning the house or when applying lotions, perfumes, or hair products, as chemicals can discolor metals. Wait until lotions and perfumes have fully absorbed before putting on jewellery.
Sleeping
Wearing jewellery to bed can lead to accidental bending or tangling. Taking it off before sleep prevents wear and tear, prolonging the life of your pieces.
Store safely
Keep jewellery in its original box or pouch when not in use. This prevents tarnish, reduces exposure to dust and moisture, and keeps pieces from scratching each other.
2. Additional care, for designs with diamonds/gemstones
Wearing rings together
Avoid wearing rings with diamonds/gemstones in prongs or side settings together with other rings, as the metals may rub and cause wear.
Sleeping
It’s essential to take off your jewellery with stones before bed. Bed sheets are like sandpaper to prongs, the metal that holds your stone in place. It will make the prongs thin and easily bendable, and there eventually isn’t enough metal to hold the stone.
Regular self checks
Every few weeks, take a moment to check your jewellery for any signs of loose stones. Gently press on the stone with your nail or a soft cloth to see if it moves. If you notice any movement or sound, stop wearing the piece and bring it to our studio/atelier for inspection and tightening.
Annual professional check
We recommend bringing in your piece once a year for a professional check-up. This ensures stones remain securely set and allows for a deep clean that restores their original brilliance.
